Mary 'Ann' Mateka, 97
Mary “Ann” Mateka, 97 of Columbia Falls, passed away Aug. 3, 2023. She was born Feb. 12, 1926, in Havre, to the late Charles Ralph Smith and Rose Smith (Hammond).
Ann, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went to be with the lord on Aug. 3, 2023. Thus being a very special day to her and the family it was her late husband Elwyn (Mutt) Maketa’s birthday. They are finally together again.
She was a kind loving person full of life until her last days. She was a member of Columbia Falls United Methodist Church for many years and truly loved being a part of her church and community. She enjoyed volunteering her time and energy during the summers at the visitor’s center in Columbia Falls.
The Mateka family built and lived in the second oldest homestead in Glacier National Park. Ann and her late husband “Mutt” were also members of the local Lions Club. She had a passion for her church and family, she loved family events and cooking all the family favorites.
Ann is survived by daughter, Bonnie Ratterman (Greg); grandson, Terry Mateka (Stacey); great-grandchildren, Ashlee and Melissa Mateka; and sister, Peggy Martin.
In addition to her parents, Ann is preceded in death by husband, Elwyn Mateka; and son, Gary Mateka.
