Range Riders pummel Chukars Thursday, 20-4

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Christian Kirtley, Jackson Raper and Mason Dinesen all drove in four runs Thursday, and the Glacier Range Riders again pummeled Idaho Falls in Pioneer League baseball, 20-4.

Kirtley and Raper hit home runs for the Range Riders (11-15 this half), and so did leadoff hitter Gabe Howell, who hit his team-leading 17th of the season.

Howell scored three times; Dean Miller had three hits, and he, Kirtley and Raper all scored three runs.

A day after rapping out 19 hits in a 15-6 win over the Chukars (11-16), Glacier banged out 22, with nine going for extra bases. The score was 11-2 before the Range Riders put up nine runs in the ninth inning: Kirtley and Raper hit two-run doubles; Dinesen hit a two-run single; Howell capped the surge with a three-run homer.

Raper hit a solo homer in the first inning, a two-run triple in the third — when Glacier scored six runs — and finished a single away from the cycle.

Kirtley hit a solo home run in the sixth for the Range Riders’ 11th run.

Noah Barros went seven innings on the bump, allowing four hits and two runs. He hit one batter, struck out 10 and improved to 8-3. Ben Ferrer handled the final two innings.

Glacier has won two of three in the series, which continues Friday and concludes Sunday. The Range Riders then travel to Great Falls for a Monday doubleheader, then open a six-game home series with Missoula on Tuesday, Aug. 22.
