Carlene Widdowson, 94

Carlene Widdowson, 94, born April 26, 1929, to an early Flathead Valley family, Carl and Berntina Widdowson. She passed away August 2, 2023.

She graduated from Flathead County High School in 1947 and Northern Montana College with a degree in teaching.

She was married to Robert Peters in 1951. They spent endless hours enjoying and exploring the lake streams and hills of Montana and beyond. They knew every fishing hole, hunting area and huckleberry patch within a 100 miles in every direction.

She traveled to 10 different countries and 48 of the 50 states; leaving Maine and Hawaii unexplored. Besides her love of the outdoors and travel, Carlene truly enjoyed evenings with family and friends and a game of pinnacle which came with a lively conversation of the lack of common sense in the world today! Don’t get her started.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, and son Douglas.

She is survived by her son, Gary; daughter, Roberta Diegel; sister Marie Peters; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Carlene will be truly missed by her numerous friends and family.
