Range Riders split doubleheader with Voyagers
The Range Riders dropped game one of Monday’s doubleheader on the road 10-5 to the Great Falls Voyagers. Voyagers leadoff man Xane Washington finished with 2-4 with two doubles and five runs batted in to propel Great Falls offensively.
The Riders struck first in the fourth when Mason Dinesen drove in a pair of runs on a single to make things 2-0. Great Falls was able to respond with a four run bottom of the fifth inning when Washington hit a three RBI double and came around to score on a Riley Jepson single to make things 4-2.
In the bottom half of the sixth it was more of the same for Great Falls as Washington drilled a two RBI double to spark a six run inning for the Voyagers and stretch the lead to 10-2.
The Riders fought till the final pitch as Gabe Howell knocked in a run in the top of seventh on a sac fly and Dean Miller drilled an RBI double and came around to score on a wild pitch to bring the tally to the final score of 10-5.
The Voyagers did all of their damage against the Riders bullpen as Glacier starter Jonathan Pintaro worked four scoreless innings while striking out five.
Greg Blackman tossed a seven-inning complete game for Great Falls. He allowed three earned runs and struck out six.
Game Two
The Riders carried their momentum over from their final at bats of game one into game two by putting up five runs in the top of the first. That early lead would hold as Glacier stayed hot on their way to an 11-4 victory in seven innings to split the twinbill. Mason Dinesen had a big day at the dish for the Range Riders by going 3-4 with two doubles and three runs batted in.
Ben Huber also played a key role in the Riders offensive attack by drilling a three RBI double in the top of the fourth to make things 8-4 Glacier.
Patrick Miner started on the bump for the Riders and tossed three innings while allowing four earned runs and striking out five.
Glacier reliever Connor Housley picked up the win and the Riders bullpen combined to shutout the Voyagers down the stretch by hurling four shutout innings.
