Polson golfers sweep Corvallis Invitational

SEELEY LAKE — Ashley Maki won medalist honors and both the Polson boys and girls were team champions at the Corvallis Invitational that concluded at Double Arrow Golf Course on Tuesday.

Maki built a three-stroke lead over Frenchtown star Katie Lewis with a 77 Monday at Missoula Country Club, then held on for a one-stroke win Tuesday by shooting 79.

Her two-day total was 156 and Lewis was next at 157.

Clare Konen, Kylee Siefert and Kila Cannon finished 4-7-8 for the Lady Pirates, whose two-day total of 730 was 25 strokes better than Hamilton.

Four full teams competed both days, while some just played Missoula Country Club.

Libby’s Reece Malyevac was boys medalist, following up his first-round 76 with a blistering 71. He erased a five-stroke deficit to Corvallis’ Brady Powell and won by five with a total of 147.

Powell was at 152 and Carson Hupka (153) led a 3-4-6-7 finish by the Polson boys.

The Pirates won by 44 strokes over Corvallis with a two-day total of 633.

Eight boys teams competed, and Whitefish was fourth. The Bulldogs’ Christian Schwaderer and Otto Klein tied for 17th with identical rounds and a total of 187.
