Local contractors Sandry Construction, Big Sky Civil Constructors and Montana Civil Contractors, Martel Construction, and Swank Enterprises were recently recognized by the Montana Contractors Association at their annual winter convention in Helena.

Sandry Construction received a Highway Excellence Award for Best Reconstruction of an Urban/City Project for their work on the Parkline Trail in Kalispell, including their efforts to remove the old rail line and creation of the shared-use trail that goes through downtown.

The firm also received a Concrete Excellence Award as part of the project.

Big Sky Civil Constructors and Montana Civil Contractors shared a Concrete Excellence Award for their work on the Crow Dam spillway project on the Flathead Reservation. The awards committee made special mention of the project’s piano key weir principal spillway, which they described as “very technical,” saying that it is only the second such spillway in the west.

Martel Construction received a Building Excellence Award for their work on a “modern and upscale” lakeside residence in Whitefish. The committee mentioned large concrete sections of the home, as well as logistical challenges in construction because of limited site access.

Swank Enterprises also received a Building Excellence Award, for Best Commercial Project. The firm received the honor for building Glacier Range Riders field, the new baseball stadium that includes a concourse, restaurant and more amenities in the 70,000 square foot building.
