Band members present recital night

Several members of the Flathead Valley Community Band are scheduled to present an evening Chamber Night recital on Monday, Feb. 20 at First Presbyterian Church located at 530 S. Main in Kalispell.

The program begins at 7:30 p.m.

Notable performers include Allen Slater, the current Community Band director, playing “Brilliant Fantasy” from the Arban method book. This showcase piece is a theme and variation, which he will be performing on euphonium.

Jennifer Hawken will do a flute performance “Two Romances” by Gary Schocker, and Dinah Weimer will be doing a collection of pop tunes from the 40s and 50s.

The concert will also have a trumpet ensemble performing the “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” a French horn trio doing three classical pieces, and a large clarinet choir. The popular local group, Three Roses and a Thorn will also be performing “My Favorite Things”.

There will be a wide variety of musical selections. There is no admittance charge for the concert but there will be a free-will donation to help cover the cost of the facilities. There will be a reception following the concert.
