Epperly, Walker key as Vikings surge to title

EUREKA — Bigfork’s Isak Epperly scored a game-high 20 points, and the Vikings pulled away in the third quarter to beat Eureka 61-35 for the District 7-B boys basketball title Saturday.

In the consolation game, Zoran LaFrombois scored 19 points to cap a big Saturday (61 total points) and lead Mission over Thompson Falls 56-48.

The Bulldogs and Bluehawks will join Bigfork and Eureka at the Western B Divisional next week in Anaconda.

Bigfork 61, Eureka 35

Eureka started strong on its home court, getting into the foul bonus early; Bigfork (17-3) didn’t take its first lead until Nick Walker put the Vikings up 11-10.

Epperly had 14 points in the first half. At 2:58 of the third quarter a 3-pointer by Walker — he had nine points — started a closing 27-7 surge by the Vikings.

Tristan Butts scored 15 points for the Lions (10-10).

LaFrombois hit four three-pointers in the first half, and just as big were the seven points Kenny Ness scored in the third as the Bulldogs built a 44-38 lead.

Mission (12-9) went 10 of 13 at the line in the fourth quarter. Ness finished with 11 points.

Bryson LeCoure had four 3-pointers and 19 points for the Bluehawks (10-10)

Bryson LeCoure and Jesse Claridge scored 16 points each — and combined for 30 first-half points — to lead Thompson Falls into the third-place game.

LeCoure hit four 3-pointers and scored all his points by intermission while the Bluehawks built a 42-11 lead.

Anaya Loberg led Plains with nine points. The Horsemen ended up 3-17.
