Law roundup: Sword-wielder is not a swashbuckler

A tall slender man was reportedly swinging a sword around and talking to himself. Things became an issue when he started swinging it at another man in Evergreen. A school went into lockdown while the Kalispell Police Department searched him out and detained him. A manager at a business said the man came in begging for coffee and cigarettes and was told to scram.

A manager reportedly found a bindle bag containing a white powdery substance and did not have a secure place to throw it away. Kalispell Police Department officers picked it up for disposal and thought it looked like pre-workout powder.

An officer checked on the welfare of a very thin fidgety man in his 20s who was not dressed for the weather and was hanging out in front of a store, carrying bags of books. He reportedly declined a ride to the hospital and instead asked to be dropped off near the library. The officer tried to call his mother but wasn’t successful in reaching her.

Officers issued a man a citation for a child safety restraint violation, advising him that two toddlers needed to be in booster seats. He waited for family members to respond to him and bring booster seats.

A minor allegedly had a marijuana vape pen on him.

A panhandler was kicked off a property and given a copy of the city’s panhandling ordinance along with information on local resources she could access.

A man was reminded he was trespassing when he purportedly went into a parking lot asking people for money but would run over to a bus stop when an employee went out to confront him.

A man reportedly slapped his ex across the nose.

A shot-put-sized rock was reportedly thrown through a double-paned window.

A man at a gym allegedly made another patron uncomfortable with his comments and an employee wanted advice from Columbia Falls Police Department on how to move forward with telling him his membership was canceled and he was no longer welcome at the location.

A person was advised that riding snowmobiles on city streets or state highways is illegal and to transport the snowmobile rather than ride it.

Someone found a man in a sleeping bag in the Post Office entryway and became worried when he didn’t move. They asked officers to check on the man’s welfare.
