The Wolfpack Theatre Company at Glacier High School will present the compelling drama, “They Promised Her the Moon.” Curtain time is 6:33 p.m. in the Wolfpack Theatre, Jan. 10 and Jan. 11.

Documenting an overlooked chapter in the history of America’s space exploration, “They Promised her the Moon” is a thought-provoking production based on the real account of an astronaut who had all the right stuff but never got the chance to be the first woman in space.

The production is based on the true story of Geraldyn “Jerrie” Cobb, one of the original Mercury 13 astronettes who were ready to be the first women in space.

The play begins as Jerrie steps into an isolation tank as part of her rigorous training regimine.

“While breaking the record of the longest lasting person in the isolation tank, memories of her childhood unfold. It follows all of the hardship and misogyny she had to overcome being a female pilot trying to find success in the 1960s. This show is empowering. It will make you angry but it will also give you hope. No matter gender or age, this is a show that will open your eyes and make you feel,” said the show’s director and Glacier senior Bella AuClaire.

This performance of “They Promised Her the Moon” is produced by the advanced acting ensemble class under the direction of Greg Adkins. As part of a complete Glacier High theater curriculum, the advanced acting ensemble class gives students the opportunity to further develop their character portrayal skills and discipline required of an actor. Along with a student-produced class production, students perform a variety of monologue and ensemble performances, along with experiences to assist the student in analyzing a script and understanding the role of the actor in the production process.

“Advanced Acting is the highest acting class at Glacier. It leaves the final production basically all in the student's hands, making it such a unique class. I am so grateful these people picked me to be their director. It is going to be a beautiful show,” said AuClaire.

The cast of “They Promised Her the Moon” includes: Annabeth O’Shea, Gabby Cantrell-Musson, Erik Kalvig, Kaelin Holt, Mac Adkins, Elise Plum, Aidan Schara, Andrea Chandler, Toben Mallo, Braden Wakefield, Dustin Wolcott, Stephen Hurly, Autumn Fehlman, Kailie Owens, Katie Illi, Kiya Hendershott and Maeve Kintzler.

The technical crew includes: Bella AuClaire, Kiya Hendershot, Fiona Fuller, Lane McKoy, Alden Lamson, Elle Plum, Zaden Stout, Isabelle McKoy, Drew Crane, Calvin Casey and Haley Hill.

Advanced tickets for the show are available on GoFan, Glacier’s new online ticketing service, and at Photo Video Plus. Any remaining tickets will also be sold at the door. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $6 for children, students and senior citizens. To access the ticketing service, go to gofan.co and search for Glacier High School.
