Whitefish Theatre Co. holds auditions for ‘Collected Stories’
The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for their third black curtain theater production of the 2022 to 2023 season.
Auditions for “Collected Stories” will be held at 7 p.m today, Jan. 5 at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. People should arrive early to fill out an audition application, fill out a waiver form, and review the script. Enter at the north side of the building near WTC’s parking lot and conference room.
In “Collected Stories”, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies, grad student Lisa Morrison is thrilled to be under the tutelage of her literary idol, Ruth Steiner. Over the years, Lisa becomes Ruth’s personal assistant and gradually her friend, as Ruth helps her hone her writing abilities. As Lisa’s career begins to flourish and Ruth’s begins to fade — it is unknown if the tenuous relationship between mentor and mentee may survive ambition, rivalry, and betrayal. “Collected Stories” explores the complicated relationship between two independent women as they struggle to define what, if anything, is off-limits in art.
The cast is composed of two women, one younger and one older. Ages 20 and up are encouraged to audition. No experience or preparation is necessary to audition. Pages from the script will be provided. If you would like to familiarize yourself with the script, it is available at Valley public libraries.
Nancy Nei is the director of this production. As a black curtain show, the actors will remain on book during performances and there will be minimal costumes and set. There will be approximately nine rehearsals and one technical rehearsal on Jan. 20. There are two performances over one weekend on Jan. 21 and Jan. 22.
