Kalispell City Council will discuss the municipality’s Bicycle and Pedestrian System Plan – part of its larger growth policy – at a work session on Monday.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in City Hall at 201 First Ave. E., and is accessible to the public via Zoom.

Council and staff will review the components of the plan and discuss economic considerations related to potential funding options, as well as existing needs within the trail system, according to a letter by City Manager Doug Russell. The talks are expected to include identifying recommendations for how shared-use paths, sidewalks, bike routes and stand-alone bike lanes could be part of Kalispell’s overarching transportation system.

How to pay for such improvements, should Council decide to pursue them, will be part of the discussion. Those talks will continue as Council moves toward setting its budget in May.

Staff members are expected to present the report and answer questions from Council.

There will be a public comment period after the plan is presented, and comments can also be submitted to the council in advance online.
