Valley Voices seeks new singers for upcoming season
The Valley Voices Community Choir is welcoming any community members interested in joining the group.
The choir’s spring season begins at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 30 in the choir room of Flathead High School. Allyson Kuechmann directs the choir.
“Allyson has been directing the choir since its very beginning twenty-three years ago,” says David Vale, who sings bass in the choir. “An accomplished director, she uses her time with us well and brings out the best in all of us. We love every minute of it.”
The program is new each season with the music selected by a committee from the choir.
“Our program this season consists of a variety of music including patriotic songs, sacred songs, and Broadway show tunes,” says choir president Rosella Thompson. “Songs that are fun to sing and fun to hear.”
The choir, composed of over 70 members, is open without audition to everyone who wants to sing.
“It was my belief in founding this choir that everyone who can speak and hear can also learn to sing,” said Kuechmann.
Anyone interested in joining the Valley Voices Community Choir is invited to come to the Flathead High School choir room at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 30. Regular rehearsals will be held Mondays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. There is a $45 fee to cover music and other expenses.
“No one should let the cost keep them from singing,” says treasurer Carole Arthur. “If you want to sing but can’t afford the membership charge, we won’t let that be a problem.”
