Comedy in the Woods presents international comedian Rich Hall

| July 6, 2023 12:00 AM

Comedian Rich Hall will make his first Polebridge appearance during Comedy in the Woods at Home Ranch Bottoms Friday, Aug. 11.

An award-winning comedian, writer, documentary maker and musician, Hall first came to prominence as a sketch comedian in the late 1980s.

He’s written and performed for a range of networks and programs such as the “David Letterman Show,” for which he earned two Emmy Awards, “Saturday Night Live,” and HBO’s “Not Necessarily the News,” famous for his sniglets segments. He’s also appeared on the “Tonight Show with Johnny Carson,” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.”

Spending most of his time in London, and some time in Montana, Hall likes to lay into his fellow countrymen and life across the pond at every opportunity. The deadpan comic has established himself “as a master of absurdist irony and the king of rapid-fire wit,” known for his expertly crafted tirades and quick-fire banter with audiences. He’s described as a comedian “whose plain-spoken growling indignation and acerbic observations have an unerring talent for hitting his targets with precision every time.”

He has been a regular on the international comedy scene with steady appearances at the Edinburgh Festival and on the BBC.

In an outpouring of patriotism, Hall created the Perrier award-winning character Otis Lee Crenshaw. In essence, a redneck jailbird singer from Tennessee who has been married seven times, all to women named Brenda. Joined onstage by three musicians, Otis composes songs on the spot about the audience and the headlines of the day. He continues the show today, although without Otis, but with just as much wit and love of authentic country music.

Tickets are $25 and may be purchased online and at Home Ranch Bottoms located about four miles south of Polebridge at 8950 North Fork Road. Gates open to ticketholders at 5 p.m. for dinner and the show begins at 7 p.m.

“Rich brings the laughs, guests bring the lawn chairs, and we’ll provide the rest,” said Home Ranch Bottoms partner Danny Freund.
