Hockaday’s Arts in the Park returns for 53rd year

One of the longest-running arts and music festivals in the West, the Hockaday Museum of Art presents the 53rd annual Arts in the Park July 14-16.

A favorite event held in historic downtown Depot Park, Kalispell’s premier arts festival features over 80 juried local and visiting artists and artisans, live music performances, food trucks, a beer and wine garden, children’s activities and more.

New this year, the event will also feature community booths invited by the Hockaday to present art and nature activities for families. Presenters include The Nurturing Center, Glacier Conservancy, Glacier Institute, Conrad Mansion, Northwest History Museum, ImagineIF Library, Boys and Girls Club, and Open AIR residency.

This year's event also includes special appearances by Miss Montana Mady Rigg on Saturday, July 15 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and baseball fans can meet Glacier Range Riders’ Mascot “Cliff” on Saturday, July 15 from 10:30 a.m.-11:15 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Live music begins at 11 a.m. each day with over 15 musicians and bands from around the Valley such as Rocky Mountain Time, Lee Zimmerman, An Daire Dance Academy, Frog Pond String Band, and Kelly Diane performing 45-60 minute sets. A premium wine and beer garden opens at 11 a.m. daily with hand-poured selected brews by Kalispell-based Bias Brewing Co. and Montavino Winery; nine food trucks including Carl’s Corn Dogs, Glacier Shaved Ice, and 406 Taco Nite.

Admission to the three-day festival is $10 for an unlimited pass button or $5 for daily admission. Children age 12 and under receive free admission. Festival hours are 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Friday-Saturday, and 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Sunday. Unlimited Pass Buttons can be purchased in advance at the museum or on the museum’s website. Day passes are purchased at the gates. All ticket holders will also receive free admission to the museum during the festival.

Dogs on leashes are also welcome.

Volunteers are critical to the success of this fundraising event. Arts in the Park’s presenting sponsors are the Daily Inter Lake and Toyota. Supporting partners include Kalispell Parks and Recreation, Glacier Bank, Three Rivers Bank, and the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce. Arts in the Park is a benefit for the Hockaday Museum of Art, a nonprofit charitable organization. All event admissions support the museum in its educational mission and programs.
