Range Riders pull away to record 6th straight win
Jackson Raper fueled an eighth-inning rally with an RBI double, and the Glacier Range Riders pulled away to a franchise-record sixth straight win Wednesday, 7-2 over Idaho Falls.
The Range Riders (28-15) led just 3-2 before Raper doubled in Gabe Howell to start the eighth at Glacier Bank Park; he then scored on a double steal with Dean Miller, making it 5-2.
Kingston Liniak then tripled in Miller, and came in on Matt Clayton’s single for the game’s final run.
Jack White started on the hill and lasted five innings for Glacier, allowing five hits, two alks and one earned run. He struck out seven. Cameron Repetti (3-0) got the win with three innings of scoreless relief, and Justin Coleman worked the ninth.
Idaho Falls (16-29) led 1-0 early and 2-1 in the fifth inning. Miller got the Range Riders back in front in the sixth, hitting an RBI double, taking third on the throw home and scoring when it got past the Chukars catcher.
Despite the win, the Range Riders got no closer to Missoula in the Pioneer League standings. The Paddleheads (33-12) clinched the first-half title for the North Division with a 15-5 win over Great Falls — MIssoula got a home run from former Range Rider Ryan Cash in the victory.
Ogden (29-16) also clinched the first-half time for the South Division, beating the Rocky Mountain Vibes 11-9 to get a doublehead split.
Glacier and Idaho Falls play two more times, before the Pioneer League has a two-day break in its schedule on Sunday and Monday. Friday’s game is at 7:05 p.m. Thursday’s game had not been completed at press time.
