Riders see win streak end at 10
The Glacier Range Riders couldn’t make it 11 straight wins Wednesday, because Billings pitcher Pat Maybach refused to give up a hit for eight innings.
By then the Mustangs led 8-0. The final was 8-3, after Mason Dinesen led off Glacier’s ninth inning with a single, and Jackson Raper hit a two-out, three-run homer three batters later.
Both teams are now 1-1 in the second half of the Pioneer League season. Maybach stayed in for the complete game, allowing two hits and a walk. The lefthander struck out 10, and retired the first 15 batters in order.
In the sixth Dinesen reached on an error, but he was erased by a double play. Through eight innings Maybach had faced the minimum number of hitters.
Mikey Edie tripled twice for the Mustangs, and one drove in two runs in the fourth for a 7-0 lead; he scored on an RBI grounder by Mitch Moralez for that 8-0 score.
The Range Riders’ bullpen continued to shine. Patrick Miner, Connor Housley and John Natoli combined to throw 5 1-3 innings of relief with no earned runs. Natoli handled the last two innings, fanning four, but Glacier's win streak stopped at 10.
The Mustangs and Range Riders play again Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at Glacier Bank Park, and then both head to Billings for a three-game series.
