Letters to the editor July 23

Sales tax

While spending a week in the Flathead I have enjoyed reading the Daily Inter Lake.

I appreciated Ellen Sullivan’s letter To The editor “Rebate is a cover-up.” She nailed it. Our representatives knew about this and refused to act on it. Much like our previous president who taxed the middle class and gave the top 1% a tax cut.

It’s a great plan to set us all up for sales tax that we have no control over. There will be city sales tax, county sales tax, state sales tax, and special sales tax until the working class just can’t afford any more.

Thank you, Ellen, for your great letter.

Experimental aircraft

Quiet Skies of Kalispell opposes such an amendment to the master plan for the Kalispell City Airport.

Just having an airport in the city limits is inherently a dangerous situation as we all know and have seen the crashes in our neighborhoods. But now they want to build and fly, experimental aircraft over our homes, daycares, back yards and school playgrounds. I should say not!

These types of aircraft are noisier and have a high rate of failure. And to allow this over the residents heads of Kalispell would not be in the best interest of the people of this community. Something like this should be placed out at Glacier Park International Airport surrounded by farms and large areas owned by GPAI.

Everywhere you look around the Kalispell city airport are homes, schools and businesses where there are thousands of people at any given time.

There is a place for everything, but this is not the place to put a experimental aircraft.

CDC hypocrites

The CDC just announced that due to budget cuts they were reducing funding for childhood vaccination (the percentage of children fully vaccinated already declined during Covid).

You really have to love the federal government swamp-dwelling bureaucrats. The only program they could cut was childhood vaccination . . . really?

How about the funding for diversity, equity and inclusion officers and instruction in their vast bloated bureaucracy?

No, the only expendable place to cut is childhood vaccination. After the CDC’s outstanding performance during the Covid pandemic, perhaps it is time to cut all their funding and start again focusing on programs that matter like public health and food safety instead of woke ideology propaganda.

What a bunch of idiotic hypocrites.
