POLSON — Zakarius Muzquiz had three hits and drove in two runs, helping Mission Valley knock off the top-seeded Glacier Twins 6-2 in the semifinals of the West A District Legion tournament Saturday.

Dawson DuMont and Cole Wadsworth combined on a six-hitter for the Mariners (24-14), who advanced to Sunday’s 1 p.m. championship game on their home field. DuMont allowed four hits, three walks and one earned run in 4 2-3 innings. He fanned nine.

In loser-out play earlier Saturday, the Bitterroot Bucs beat the Kalispell A Lakers 7-6, and the Cranbrook Bandits edged the Missoula A Mavericks 12-11.

Cranbrook (21-24) and the Bucs (33-10) played late Saturday, with the loser taking fourth. The winner takes on the Twins (26-9) at 10 a.m. Sunday for a chance at the championship round.

Mariners 6, Twins 2

Mission Valley took advantage of the Twins’ wildness, combining three hit batters with two walks and a passed ball for a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Another bases-loaded hit by pitch — Wyatt Wadsworth got the RBI — forced in another run in the third.

Muzquiz hit a two-run double in the fourth that made it 6-2.

Cole Wadsworth scored twice for the Mariners, who drew seven walks and had six hit batsmen.

Maddox Muller and Kellen Kroger had two hits each for the Twins. Michael Miller had a sacrifice fly.

Bandits 12, Mavs 11

A bases-loaded walk issued to Clark Reimer in the bottom of the ninth decided this game.

The Bandits led 7-5 after one inning, then scored four times in the seventh to knot the game at 11-all and force some free baseball.

Leif Drubreuil, who doubled, was one of four Bandits to score twice. Dallin Rodger, Owen Relkoffand Vinny Fiorentino were the others for Cranbrook, which combined nine hits with eight walks and four hit by pitches.

Kaden Thennis went 5-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs for the Mavs, who ended up 17-38.
