Motorists should expect delays with various paving projects around Kalispell set to start up Wednesday.

The Montana Department of Transportation and LHC Inc. will begin paving portions of four roads as part of the Kalispell Urban Pavement Preservation project. Crews will begin with resurfacing on Woodland Park Drive and Conrad Drive, before moving to West Evergreen Drive and finally East Reserve Drive.

This work is anticipated to take a few weeks to complete.

“Driveway access in the project area may be interrupted during work,” said John Schmidt, MDT Missoula District Construction Engineer. “Following paving at these locations, a seal and cover [chip seal] will be applied.”

Traffic control will vary at each project location. However, motorists can expect reduced speed limits, traffic reduced to a single lane at times and width restrictions in place at each location.

The public is encouraged to visit 511mt.net for the most up-to-date information.

PAVING ON Airport Road and crack sealing on Woodland Avenue was completed earlier this summer. Chip sealing work on Whitefish Stage Road is anticipated to take place later this summer. This project will be completed in 2023.

Construction on this project is in partnership with the City of Kalispell, which requested the project following their own resurfacing of Whitefish Stage Road and Woodland Avenue.

The project is expected to improve the driving surface of five roads and will extend the service life of all seven roads.
