No. 29495 DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SERVICE REGULATION BEFORE THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION OF THE STATE OF MONTANA In re NorthWestern Energy’s 2023 Electric Integrated Resource Plan Docket 2022.11.102 May 26, 2023 Notice of NorthWestern Energy’s 2023 Integrated Resource Plan and Opportunity for Public Comment On April 28, 2023, NorthWestern Energy (“NorthWestern”) filed its 2023 Integrated Resource Plan (“2023 Plan”) with the Montana Public Service Commission (“Commission”) pursuant to Mont. Code Ann. §§ 69-3-1201 through 6931209 and Mont. Admin. Rs. 38.5.8201 through 38.5.8226 (2022). The 2023 Plan evaluates different potential generation resources that could meet the needs of NorthWestern’s electric service customers in Montana over the next 20 years. According to the 2023 Plan, the resources best suited to address NorthWestern’s needs are flexible natural gas generation and long-duration energy storage resources. The plan does not identify specific new resources for addition to NorthWestern’s resource portfolio. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Commission will accept written comments on the 2023 Plan through August 28, 2023. Written comments may be mailed to the Commission at 1701 Prospect Ave., P.O. After reviewing the 2023 Plan and considering public comment, the Commission may identify deficiencies in the plan, including non-compliance with Commission rules, and ways to remedy the deficiencies.
