Music school holds summer drum gatherings

North Valley Music School is hosting a free summer drum series featuring community drumming for teens and adults.

All percussion instruments are welcome and the school does have a few extra drums on hand to provide for newbies. The events are free to ages 13 and older.

The drum gatherings are on Sunday, June 11 at the Whitefish Community Center from 5-6 p.m., Sunday, July 9 at Whitefish City Beach from 5-6 p.m. and Sunday, Aug.13 at Stillwater Landing from 5-6 p.m.

The series will be facilitated by Rusty Eklund, a son of the northwest who lived 25 years abroad including 11 years in West Africa studying music and culture. As a certified music teacher, he has been teaching at international schools and presenting drumming workshops across the globe.
