Crews Taylor homered, Matt Clayton drove in two runs and the Glacier Range Riders held off Great Falls 6-5 in Pioneer League baseball Wednesday at Glacier Bank Park.

The Range Riders (13-11) made up a 2-0 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the first, capped by Taylor’s 2-run homer. That inning was helped when Matt Clayton’s two-out drive to center field was dropped for an error, scoring Ben Fitzgerald with Glacier’s second run.

Clayton added a 2-run single in the third inning. Those runs turned out to be big because the Voyagers (8-16) got a two-run homer from Billy Hancock in the fourth.

Neither team scored again. Glacier starting pitcher Patrick Miner scattered eight hits and a walk in five innings, and left with a 6-5 lead. He struck out five and his record improved to 2-3.

Joseph Kinsky, Roy Robles, John Natoli and Justin Coleman each threw a scoreless inning. Coleman struck out two and earned his first save.

The Voyagers and Range Riders play four more times on this home stand. Thursday’s game starts at 7:05 p.m.
