Law roundup: Neighborhood dispute requires police mediation
Officers with the Columbia Falls Police Department were stuck sorting out a laundry list of grievances between neighbors on Second Avenue. Authorities initially arrived after one resident reported another for harassing her and accusing her dog of being vicious. Officers let her know that, per city code, a dog on personal property cannot be deemed vicious. With that settled, the dog owner asked officers to deal with a neighbor’s fleet of broken down vehicles. Officers contacted the owners, who agreed to take care of the dead vehicles.
Police came across three kids playing in a construction site. They were redirected to a nearby playground.
Officers stopped another trio of youths after catching them doing jumps with their bikes near Clare Park. In the course of getting air, they crossed the road, forcing vehicles to slow down. Officers noted they were wearing helmets, but counseled them on staying out of the road just the same.
Authorities came across a pair of vehicles parked in an area park after hours and moved the motorists along.
An officer checked in on a motorcyclist parked on U.S. 2. The rider said he was warming his hands before getting back on the road.
A caretaker for a 93-year-old man contacted authorities after finding his ward on the ground outside. The caretaker said the man’s body was freezing and suspected he may have been outside overnight. First responders were requested to aid the man, who complained of foot pain, appeared confused and struggled to keep his eyes open.
A Nucleus Avenue resident phoned authorities to complain about the noise of several revving motorcycles. Police asked that next time she call while the riders were revving their bikes so they could track down the responsible individuals. She agreed to do so.
Investigators headed to Whitefish to meet with a woman who reportedly suffered an attack the night prior in Columbia Falls and was afraid to return to that city.
Two men arguing loudly on Second Avenue earned a visit by the police, who asked that they separate for the day.
Someone located an old leather purse by the river access.
Police asked the owner of a white Chevrolet Camaro to stop revving the engine on Nucleus Avenue. A neighbor had called in the noise complaint.
