Betty Lou Skare, 94
Mrs. Betty Skare, 94 of Columbia Falls, passed away June 24, at Logan Care Center, in Whitefish.
She was born and raised in Barrett, Minnesota. She and her twin sister Beverly were born to Ella and Carl Waugh on December 31, 1928. They also had an older brother Harvey Waugh.
In 1947 she met Orlin Skare at a local roller-skating rink. They married September 18, 1948 in Barrett.
They raised 5 children, Mike (Margie) Skare of Polson; Don Skare, Debbie (Tom) Hamilton; Gene (Dianna) Skare, all of Columbia Falls; Marcia (KC) Lane of Casper, Wyoming; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In 1964, after years of farming in Barrett, they moved the family to Columbia Falls where they remained and many of the family members still do.
She was predeceased by her husband, of 69 years, Orlin, in January of 2018; her twin sister, Beverly; and her brother, Harvey.
She was very fond of sewing, especially for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, baking, and gardening.
She also worked at the Hungry Horse News for 16 years. She was happy to express to her physicians, that she was a, "strong Norwegian woman", when they commented on her age.
Betty's memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 3, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 401 7th Street West, Columbia Falls.
