| March 5, 2023 12:00 AM

Carol A Porter, 82, Hamilton, former longtime resident of Columbia Falls, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023, at Barbara Jean’s Assisted Living in Goodyear, Arizona. She was born on Aug. 20, 1940, in Missoula to the late Howard and Ruth Davis Carlson (France).

On April 25, 2009, she remarried the love of her life, Lawrence “Dean” Porter. Carol took great pride in her role as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She found joy in reading, traveling, singing along to songs and socializing with friends in Montana and their winter home in Arizona. Carol was always happy and willing to share a funny story with anyone. Her infectious laugh and beautiful smile always made her stick out in any crowd. Above all else, she loved to surround herself with her loved ones: both family and friends.

Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Banner Del Webb Hospital, Hospice of the Valley, and Barbara Jean’s Assisted Living in Arizona for the wonderful care that they provided.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Dean Porter; her brothers, Robert Carlson (Ann Gimpel) and Larry (Jamie) France; two children, Mark (Becky) Porter, and Geri Lynn Anderson; three stepchildren, Tim (Terri) Anderson, Melanie (Bill) Justice and Waylon (Sandra) Porter; three grandchildren, Brittany (Brandon) Riska, Michelle Tafoya, and Chelsie (Anthony) Schnetter; four stepgrandchildren, Wyatt Justice, Zach Porter, Alexander Phelps, and Lauren Ramirez; five great-grandchildren, Treyton Riska, Bailey Riska, Scarlett Riska, Aria Tafoya and Eli Schnetter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth (Linc) France and Howard Carlson; brother, Alan (Jan) Carlson; and sister, Patricia (Leroy) Kindsvogel.

Funeral arrangements will be scheduled (and announced) sometime in spring or early summer in Hamilton. In lieu of gifts or flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of the Valley (Arizona) www.hov.org/donate/. Condolences may be left for the family at www.dalyleachchapel.com
