State A girls: Hardin, Havre to meet in chipper

BOZEMAN — Hardin and Havre will meet Saturday in the State A girls final, while four other teams will battle for a place in the third place game.

Hamilton defeated Browning Friday behind Layne Kearns’ 30 points, and Frenchtown held off Dillon in the loser out bracket.

Frenchtown and Billings Central play the 9 a.m. game at Gallatin High School Saturday, while Laurel and Hamilton play the early game at the MSU Fieldhouse.

Hardin and Havre face off in the final at 6:30 p.m.

Hamilton 68, Browning 47

Kearns added 13 boards and made 12 of her 15 tries at the line.

Taryn Searle added 20 for the Broncs, including five treys.

For Browning, Mecca Bullchild scored 20 and was 8-for-13 at the charity stripe.

The Broncs fended off a 20-point second quarter by Dillon to win 45-38.

Mason Quinn poured in 19 points for Frenchtown and Sadie Smith added 10.

Halle Fitzgerald led Dillon with 12 points.

Amaya Jarvis put up 25 points to lift the Blue Ponies to a spot in the state final. Ariana Gary added 17 points for Havre, who opened up a 37-21 lead at the half.

Kamryn Reinker scored 15 points for the Rams.

Hardin 76, Laurel 71

Carlei Plainfeather led the Hardin Bulldogs to their semifinal victory over Laurel with her 24 points and seven rebounds.

Katerena Morrison added 20 points for Hardin.

Emma Timm paced Laurel with 21 points and Alyse Aby added 18.
