BOZEMAN — Havre got 20 points from Yelena Miller and 18 from Amaya Jarvis to repeat as the State A girls champions with a 74-57 win over Hardin on Saturday at the MSU Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.

The Blue Ponies were down seven points early but led by as much at the break. A 23-point fourth quarter helped Havre surge to a big lead that was too much for Hardin to overcome.

Jarvis hit four treys and was 6 for 6 from the free throw line. Avery Carlson added 14 points and six rebounds.

Dierra Takes Enemy led Hardin with 19 points and eight rebounds, and Katerena Morrison added 14 points, including two 3-pointers.

Laurel 54, Billings Central 49

Laurel held off rival Billings Central for third place Saturday at the State A girls basketball tournament.

Alyse Aby scored 17 points and hit two free throws with 18.7 seconds left to give the Locomotives some cushion down the stretch.

The Rams got as close as a point two times, once with just over six minutes to go and again with under two minutes left, but Aby’s free throws put the game out of reach.

Kaitlyn Dantic added 14 points, including four treys, for Laurel.

Kamryn Reinker scored 17 points for the Rams, and Jessa Larson added 11.

Laurel 62, Hamilton 58

Alyse Aby scored 15 points and helped the Locomotives earn a spot in the third-place game with a defeat of Hamilton.

Kaiya Graves had a double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) for Laurel and Emma Timm added 10.

Hamilton’s Layne Kearns, who had a big performance Friday, scored 17 points and had 16 rebounds.

Billings Central 64, Frenchtown 44

The Rams jumped out to a 31-16 halftime lead to cruise to their win in consolation.
