Law roundup: Maybe it’s a sign?
Spotting a man across the street soliciting money beside a sign that forbade panhandling, someone contacted the Kalispell Police Department. The caller asked that officers ban the man from the property.
A woman confronted about panhandling in front of a no panhandling sign allegedly responded “with foul language.” The person who did the confronting contacted police for help in moving her along.
Officers served a woman with a citation after responding to a report of an ongoing mental health crisis in public. The person who contacted authorities described the woman as cursing, crying, yelling and generally acting distraught.
A man napping under a Christmas tree irked a passerby, who asked that officers move him along.
A caller asked police to help move along a man living on a flight of stairs. The man had refused to leave, according to the caller.
Officers counseled two men arguing over the ownership of a trailer. One called police after reportedly feeling threatened, saying the other man had called him names. Reviewing the situation, officers noted that both men had a claim to the trailer and deemed it a civil matter.
Someone allegedly tampered with company vehicles.
A caller reported an abandoned vehicle with Montana plates.
Officers were alerted to a man walking a dog without a leash. The dog reportedly had a history of aggression with other canines.
Two men were spotted ripping wires out of old concrete blocks.
Worried a male motorist in a blue GMC truck was stalking her children, a mother contacted police. She said he was following the kids, but took off when she pulled up.
A resident asked officers to check out a nearby home that was still under construction. The work crew left the garage door open the night prior and this morning both it and the front door were open, she said.
Officers investigated the theft of a contractor’s trailer over the previous weekend.
Several dogs off leash sparked a confrontation between two people. A woman told officers that she sprayed the animals with a deterrent after their owner let them out of his truck and one approached her. In her telling, the dog’s owner then “exchanged words” with her. Officers advised her on how to report dogs running around off leash.
A near miss prompted a woman to contact authorities. She said she was riding on her scooter and a maroon car nearly hit her. The driver never bothered to say anything to her, which proved upsetting, she told officers.
Someone reported seeing sewer water spilling out of an alley.
