Trever Cockerill threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and drove in two runs Sunday, helping the Kalispell A Lakers beat the Helena Reps 8-1 and gain a split of their Legion doubleheader.

That completed a 3-1 weekend for the Lakers (10-2 this season), who swept the Missoula A Mavericks Saturday.

The visiting Reps won the first game 8-3, building a 7-2 lead in the fourth inning that held up. Hunter Fann, Bryce Quinnell and Braden Capser all had two hits — Fann and Cockerill each hit doubles — for the Lakers, but they couldn’t catch up.

In the second game Kalispell managed just two hits, but also worked Helena’s pitching four eight walks and two hit by pitches, and scored eight runs late.

Hunter Glidden walked three times and scored once; Jackson Heino and Easton Capser each scored twice. On the mound Cockerill hit two batters and walked one.

On Saturday the Lakers beat the Mavericks 14-5 and 4-1.

Cockerill hit three singles and drove in four runs and the Lakers stole 10 bases — Cokcerill and Braden Capser had three steals each — to win the first game.

In the second game Cockerill hit a triple and Kalispell got a combined six-hitter from Liam Benson (five innings, two walks and five hits allowed, six strikeouts) and Hunter Fann.

The A Lakers next play at the Canadian Days Tournament this weekend: They’ll play the Cranbrook Bandits at 3 p.m. Friday at Archie Roe.
