Wolfpack rout Bison after narrow CMR loss
Ella Farrell homered and threw a 5-inning shutout as Glacier beat Great Falls High 10-0 Tuesday, giving the Wolfpack a doubleheader split against the Electric City softball teams.
Earlier Tuesday Great Falls C.M. Russell was able to hand the Wolfpack (15-2) a rare loss, 5-3, at the Glacier fields.
The Pack came back with home runs from Farrell, Emma Cooke and Avery Andreson against the Bison (12-7), who managed just three hits against Farrell.
All of the homers came in a six-run fourth inning: Anderson’s made it 4-0, Glacier; Cooke’s was a grand slam that made it 8-0; and Farrell followed with a solo shot for a 9-0 lead.
Farrell walked one Bison hitter and struck out five. Zoey Allen added two doubles and Vivian had a double and drove in two for the Pack. Brooklyn Imperato scored twice.
In the first game CMR’s Brie Ginnaty scattered 10 Glacier hits and two walks, and backed her pitching with two runs batted in.
The Rustlers (9-8) scored three runs off starting pitcher Morgan Vivian and two important ones off Farrell in the seventh, one on a passed ball and another on Ginnaty’s solo homer.
They were important because Cazz Rankosky hit a two-out, two-run double for Glacier in its half of the seventh, bringing the tying run to the plate in Emma Cooke. Ginnaty retired Cooke to end the game.
Glacier concludes its regular season with a home game against Crosstown rival Flathead Thursday at 5 p.m.
