GREAT FALLS — Things shaped up mostly as expected on the first day of the Northern AA tennis divisional on Thursday, with Glacier leading both the boys and girls team races and C.M. Russell not far behind.

The Wolfpack boys lead with 26 points to CMR’s 20, and the girls have 21 points to CMR’s 17. Flathead’s boys and girls are in third.

Glacier also has three singles players and four doubles teams in semifinals. Will Rudbach, Sam Engellant and Kutuk White blazed through their early singles rounds, as did doubles pairs Harrison Sanders/Timmy Glanville, Ethan Woods/Trey Engellant, Haven Speer/Sarah Downs, Elise Strobel/Kendall Van Aken and Colette Daniels/Katy Bitney.

Rudbach and Engellant are semifinal opponents, and White is up against CMR’s Carson Rich, who defeated Glacier’s Mac Adkins in the second round.

Sanders and Glanville will face Brady Corn and Aedan Bingham of CMR; Woods and Engellant have CMR’s Josh Stimac and Brady Pike. Speer and Downs face off with teammates Daniels and Bitney, while Strobel and Van Aken have CMR’s Becca Sherman and Olivia Martello.

Flathead singles players Alexis Kersten and Isabella Parrott also advanced to semifinals, where the teammates will line up against each other. On the other side is Great Falls’ Lilly Langbein versus CMR’s Grace Kaufmann.

Glacier’s Cadence and Cassidy Daniels are still working through the doubles consolation rounds as are Quindy Gronley and Tori Dobis in the singles consolation bracket. Flathead’s Elle Westover is set to play Dobis today in the fifth round of consolation, starting at 9 a.m.
