Logan Health gives out Healthy Classroom grants to educators

Logan Health’s Foundation and School-Based Services awarded $500 grants to educators throughout Northwest Montana for its spring round of Healthy Classroom grants.

The Healthy Classrooms grant provides funding to local schools to aid in the creation or improvement of student-centered and staff-related healthy living initiatives. The grants will fund projects such as portable art toolkits for painting outside, class sensory bins, under-desk exercise pedals, mental health resources books for students, yoga/meditation mats and classes for educator wellness, as well as new exercise equipment — such as a stationary bike and a rowing machine.

A release from Logan Health said the foundation awarded grants to 11 educators at the following schools: Cayuse Prairie School, Columbia Falls High School, Columbia Falls Junior High, Cornelius Hedges Elementary School, Cut Bank Schools, Edgerton Elementary School, Kalispell Middle School, Somers Middle School and Sunburst Elementary School.

“By providing the necessary support and resources, we can help cultivate an environment where both educators and learners can thrive,” says Brittany Coburn, Logan Health School-Based Health Center Program Director. “We’re so happy to support Montana’s educators and help nurture healthier and brighter futures for our youth.”

Logan Health’s Healthy Classrooms Grants occur bi-annually in the fall and spring. In culmination with this spring’s recipients, the Logan Health Foundation has awarded over $14,000 to local educators for school-based health initiatives.
