CORVALLIS — The host Corvallis girls couldn’t be caught this weekend, but Columbia Falls and Whitefish will have another shot at the Blue Devils next week.

With Olivia Lewis completing a hurdles sweep — with teammate Rylee Herbstritt again taking second — to her 400 win from Friday, the Blue Devils piled up 117 points to win the Western A Divisional crown Saturday.

Columbia Falls was next with 76.5 points and Whitefish, the defending State A champion, third with 72.

But the Wildkats and Dawgs had some big individual point-getters, which may mean more at the State A meet next weekend in Laurel.

Both sprinter Ally Sempf and middle distance standout Siri Erickson scored 18 points for the Kats on the weekend; Sempf was third in the 100 and second in the 200 Saturday, while Erickson flip-flopped in Saturday’s 800 with Whitefish junior Maeve Ingelfinger after winning Friday’s 1,600. Ingelfinger won Saturday in 2:20.9, a PR and the second-best time in Class A.

Meanwhile Whitefish junior Brooke Zetooney swept the 100 (12.48) and 200 (25.08). The latter saw both Zetooney and Sempt (25.45) run PRs and the two fastest times in Class A. Zetooney was worth 36 points to the Bulldogs’ cause.

Rachael Wilmot was third in the 200 and fifth in the 100 for Whitefish.

Lewis’ time of 43.02 in the 300 hurdles is more than 3 seconds clear of anyone else in Class A.

Hamilton won the boys title, edging Corvallis 112-107. Dillon held off Columbia FAlls 70.5-68 for third place.

Malaki Simpson ran his fastest 100 yet for Columbia Falls, winning in 10.99 seconds, and won a duel with Frenchtown’s Carter White in the 200 as well, 22.00 to 22.09 — those are the top two times in A. Simpson also anchored the Wildcats’ relay teams; both won.

Lane Voermans placed second in the discus for the Wildcats.

Hamilton was led by distance runners Evan Beneet and Taylor Doleac. Dillon’s Treyton Graham swept the hurdles to go with a win in the 400 (State A-best 49.62). His time of 39.71 in the 300s leads Class A, while Columbia Falls’ Adam Schrader still ranks second.
