CORVALLIS — Whitefish junior Brooke Zetooney ran the fastest 100 meters this spring on Friday, in the prelims at the Western A Divisional track and field meet.

She also scored eight points in the shot put.

But it was Columbia Falls’ Siri Erickson ran 5:17.76 to win the 1,600, notching the lone individual victory from the Flathead Valley win on the first day. Maeve Ingelfinger of Whitefish ran a PR and finished second at 5:19.61.

The Corvallis Blue Devils made hay in the 100-meter hurdles, with Olivia Lewis (15.26) and Rylee Herbstritt (16.23) finishing first and second, and lead after seven events with 46 points.

Columbia Falls is second at 36.5, with Dillon and Hamilton tied for third at 31. Whitefish is fifth at 30 points. The Wildkats also got a boost from Courtney Hussion taking second in the long jump.

It’s been a fast meet, with 12 personal records set on the girls’ side alone. Someone was even faster than Zetooney Friday: Stevensville senior Claire Hutchison won the 400 with a PR of 58.50 seconds while Zetooney was second at 58.85 (and the Bulldogs Rachael Wilmot was third at 1:00.05).

But Zetooney clocked 12.37 in the 100, .01 faster than Hutchison ran April 28. For good measure, she PR’d and finished second in the shot put, throwing 36 feet, 9 inches. Frenchtown’s Sadie Smith won at 41-3.

Similar to Zetooney, Frenchtown’s Carter White ran his PR in the boys 100 (10.89) and now sits second in all of Class A.

Many of the points after nine boys events belonged to Hamilton: 62. Corvallis (47) and Frenchtown (32) were next. Columbia Falls sat fifth with 21.

The Wildcats were supreme in the 400-meter relay, clocking 43.32. That shouldn’t be a surprise, since three Cats were among the top seven in the 100 prelims (Malaki Simpson ran 11.13). Adam Schrader added a fourth place in the 110 hurdles, clocking a PR of 15.89. Columbia Falls teammate Lane Voermans was fourth in the shot put as well.

Whitefish saw Mason Genovese PR and finish third in the 1,600 at 4:36.53. Hamilton’s Evan Bennett and Taylor Doleac went 1-2 in that race.

The Bulldogs’ Bowdrie Krack took second in the pole vault, clearing 13-0.

The meet concludes Saturday. Full results can be found at athletic.net.
