Bigfork concert benefits food banks

| November 2, 2023 12:00 AM

The Flathead Food Bank served more than twice the working household visitors in 2023 compared with 2022. That is a 103% increase, feeding more families more times throughout the year.

Food disparity is reaching into the pockets of the working class more than ever, causing major alarm within Flathead Valley communities. The sharp increase in families visiting the Flathead Food Bank, joined with last year’s inflation hike, is garnering serious attention as the holiday season approaches.

To counter these challenges, the Flathead Food Bank and Bigfork Food Bank are joining forces to present the second annual Feed the Need benefit concert.

The event will take place at the Jewel Basin Center in Bigfork on Thursday, Nov. 2. The event will feature an unforgettable night of music with Man & The Box featuring Tommy Edwards, Clint Sherman, Benny Weag from the hit television show The Voice, and special guest Kelley Sinclair. Admission to the event will be “pay what you can,” and attendees are encouraged to donate at the door.

Feed the Need is presented by title sponsor, Big Sky Public Relations. For the second year in a row, community member Lucy Smith will be committing double whatever is raised at the door up to $10,000. Her impactful contributions, along with Feed the Need’s 24 additional sponsors, are putting food directly on the table of hard-working families.

“It’s a beautiful thing to see residents and businesses working together to ensure our community doesn’t go hungry this holiday season,” said executive director of the Flathead Food Bank, Chris Sidmore. “The celebration on Nov. 2 is going to make a big difference for many, and it’s a reminder that our community is full of friends and neighbors that take care of their own.”

There will be a full bar and food for purchase on-site. Carpooling is recommended. Limited seating will be available, and doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m. Donations may be provided via cash, check, Venmo, or Paypal. Donations may be made in advance online at https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=RCVDMRXSFSAV6 or via Venmo (@FlatheadFoodBank).

Big Sky Public Relations is joined in this effort by numerous other sponsors including Glacier Bank, Logan Health, Silverbrook Apartments, Sliters Lumber and Building Supply, Systems Northwest, Town Pump, and WGM Group.
