Business succession planning 

Montana West Economic Development in partnership with Merit Financial Services holds a seminar on business succession planning options on Nov. 7 from 1-2 p.m. at its offices, 44 Second Ave., Kalispell. Many companies have little or no succession plan in place. When a founder or primary shareholder leaves the business there can be significant negative consequences for the company and the employees. An employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) is a type of retirement plan that allows companies to transfer ownership of the company to employees. Joshua Mersberger and Bryce Stacy from Merit Financial Services will provide and overview of the topic. The session is free, but RSVP is requested.
