Incumbents seeking reelection to Kalispell City Council held on to their seats, according to preliminary results released late Tuesday night.

Kari Sue Gabriel, Sam Nunnally and Ryan Hunter outpaced their respective rivals in the municipality’s three contested races, an unofficial vote tally issued at 11:58 p.m. showed.

Sid Daoud, who represents Ward 4 on the Council, ran for reelection unopposed.

The only other elected seat on the Kalispell ballot was municipal judge. Alison Howard, who was appointed to the position by Council in January, ran unopposed.

PRELIMINARY results Tuesday showed the three incumbents seeking reelection to Whitefish City Council handily winning.

Frank Sweeney, Steven Qunell and Rebecca Norton accumulated sizable advantages over four challengers.

Whitefish voters also overwhelmingly supported a ballot question about reallocating a portion of the city’s resort tax toward housing initiatives. The tally showed 1,773 votes in favor of the tax question, with 353 against.

Mayor John Muhlfeld and Municipal Judge Caitlin Overland were unopposed.

In the Columbia Falls City Council election, Kelly Hamilton, John Piper and Kathryn Price claimed the three open seats.

Unofficial preliminary results as of Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 11:58 p.m.
