Northwest volleyball squads bow out at State

BOZEMAN — The Glacier Wolfpack knocked Missoula Sentinel out of the State AA volleyball tournament Saturday morning, but the matinee matchup didn’t go as well.

Billings Skyview ousted the Wolfpack in three sets in the 2 p.m. loser-out match at Breeden Field House, ending their season at 22-9. 

The other Northwest Montana teams had similar fates: Eureka won its first-loser out in the State B, beating Deer Lodge in three sets, before being eliminated by Columbus. 

Polson ousted Lockwood Friday morning in the State A, then fell to Frenchtown in five sets; Whitefish lost its early match to Glendive in four sets.


STATE AA

Glacier def. Sentinel 3-0

Natalie Herne had 11 kills and Leila Major added 10 for the Pack. 

Kaylie Field had 19 digs and two aces; Haven Speer had 38 assists and 18 digs.

McKenna Hanson and Hannah Simpson combined for 21 kills and six aces in the Pirates’ victory, and Hanson also had eight digs.

Bailey Smith checked in with six kills and 16 digs for Whitefish.
