Kay Sands McDonald, 71

Kay Sands McDonald, 71 of Columbia Falls, was born to Bill and Lois Sands. Kay, a loving sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, joined her loving husband Jerry in heaven Sept. 26, 2023.

She was born and raised in Nyack, Montana, with her brothers, Bill and Tom Sands. She attended Columbia Falls High School where she participated in drill team and choir.

In 1970, she married Jerry McDonald and together they raised their two boys, Jason and Chris.

She was always doing something, whether it was traveling with family and friends or playing Bunco with the girls. She worked hard to support her family and spent the majority of her career working for MARLS. Faith and family were the cornerstones of her life. She continued to enjoy her busy days supporting her grandchildren, Jacey, Quinn, Josiah, and Xander and great-grandchild Kallum.

She always enjoyed hunting, fishing, and skiing with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry McDonald; her parents, William and Lois Sands; step-father, Harold Yaeger; and brother, Willliam Sands.

She is survived by her two sons, Jason McDonald (Sharon) and Chris McDonald (Paula); grandchildren, Jacey Kohler (Jayson), Quinn, Josiah, and Xander; great-grandchild, Kallum; her brother, Tom Sands (Reta); her aunt, Meridith Wilson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of Kay's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 7, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Columbia Falls. The service will also be live streamed by the church via, oslcmt.org.
