Schweikert leads C-Falls over Bigfork
BIGFORK — Columbia Falls quarterback Cody Schweikert threw for 377 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for 172 yards and four more scores as the Wildcats outscored Bigfork 51-30 in a Western A football battle Friday.
Schweikert’s 16-yard touchdown strike to Lane Hoerner in the third quarter sparked the Wildcats (5-2 overall and in the Western A) away from a 17-14 halftime lead.
Jace Hill picked off two third-quarter passes and Schweikert, the senior quarterback and Montana Grizzlies commit, sandwiched two scoring runs around a safety picked up by the Vikings. Columbia Falls led 38-16 going into the fourth.
Schweikert completed 25 of 29 passes while two Wildcat receivers broke 100 receiving yards: Mark Robison and Chance Miller. .
Bigfork (4-4 overall and in league) had Tristan Herd throw for 316 yards and three touchdowns — Elijah Thorness had scoring receptions of 69 and 61 yards, and Austin Savik had a 28-yard TD — and run for another score.
Thorness caught six passes for 166 yards.
Blaise Cronk scored Columbia Falls’ final TD, on a 14-yard run. Alihn Anderson caught a 10-yard scoring pass from Schweikert in the fourth quarter as well.
