The Flathead Bravettes secured the No. 4 seed in Western AA with a 3-2 win over crosstown rival Glacier on Thursday at Legends Stadium.

Flathead also beat Glacier 3-2 in the teams’ first meeting on Sept. 21, and they’ll meet for a third time Tuesday in a first round Class AA game. Glacier is the No. 5 Western seed.

“Very intense battle,” Bravettes coach Zach Brenneman said. “Both teams battled hard. Celie Vandenbosch got two goals and played great on defense. Good team battle. We will reload for whoever we face Tuesday at home.”

Avi Schmautz gave the Bravettes a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute, and Vandenbosch made it 2-0 early in the second half. Calista Wroble got the Wolfpack within one goal in the 60th minute, then Vandenbosch buried another goal that made it 3-2. Glacier made another push that resulted in a Reagan Brisendine goal but Flathead was able to hold them off from there.

This is also the second year in a row that Flathead has swept crosstown play with Glacier.
