Wendy Jean Maechtle, born Jan. 18, 1955, in Anoka, Minnesota, died Oct. 19, 2023, at home in Columbia Falls, Montana.

She is preceded in death by father, Douglas C. Ouimette; and mother, Genevieve (Jean) Ouimette Glover.

She is survived by her husband, David; daughter, Amanda (Jerry); son, Mike (Diamond); and beloved grandchildren, Lane Landis, Macie, Brantley and Lilah Maechtle; brothers, Dan and Eddie; step-father, Larry Glover; and god mother, Christine. She is also survived by many devoted friends, you know who you are.

In 1963, after her dad died, (she was eight years old) her family moved from Minnesota to California, and then to Colorado. She graduated from high school and shortly after moved to Montana. There she met Dave and fell in love with him and the Mountains.

She was an energetic person, she started running at age 48 and ran many 5K races. She was an accomplished crafter and crocheter, sending her love in every stitch of an Afghan to many friends and families. She belonged to the Artist & Craftsman of Flathead County for many years. As a dedicated volunteer for Wings Regional Cancer Support, she was featured in January of 2012 telling her personal story. She helped many people in her career in the medical field.

She also kayaked the mountain lakes, snowshoed, gathered huckle berries and traveled with her friends. She was always happy to help others.

Our hearts ache for the memories that won’t be made, but we look forward to reunited with her in heaven.

Arrangements will be completed this summer.
