Liam Ells and Hunter Lisowski scored for the Glacier Wolfpack to top Missoula Hellgate 2-0 in Western AA boys soccer on Thursday.

Ells’ goal was a header in the first half, assisted by Hans Coggins.

“It was just really great out there,” Glacier coach Ryan Billiet said. “I think the biggest thing right now is being grateful for where we’re at. We have wonderful internal leadership, strong defensive play, our midfield was sharp. We were patient and took our time.”

Sophomore keeper Silas Young made 10 saves and got the shutout against the defending State AA champions.

“A lot of credit to the full program, their preparation… all of the pieces, all the work they put in in the offseason to make it possible to build to that point,” Billiet said.

Glacier next plays Helena Capital Friday, Sept. 8.

Mello was referring to the absence of captains Calista Wroble and Reese Ramey on the field and of course going up against a tough Hellgate team.

Next up is an away game against Helena Capital next Friday.
