Trego Heritage Days runs Sept. 8-10
The Trego, Fortine, Stryker Community Hall is hosting an event aimed at celebrating the ranching, agriculture and logging roots of the Tobacco Valley.
Trego Heritage Days is Sept. 8-10 in Trego. Events take place at locations throughout the town off U.S. 93 between Whitefish and Eureka in Lincoln County.
The family-friendly event includes artisans, food, events, demonstrations and music.
Events begin at noon on Friday, Sept. 8 and run into the evening. The vendor village at the TFS Community Hall includes crafts and food vendors.
The official kick-off event for the weekend is a Cow Parade in front of the Trego Pub at 5 p.m. Following the parade, the Tobacco Plains Indian Band of the Kootenays will present a blessing followed by a welcome to the event speech by TFS Hall President, Todd Swan. Music follows at the Trego Pub with the Helnore Highwater Band.
On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the vendor village is open at the community hall and a history of trains talk and a train will be on display at the Trego Train crossing.
Various demonstrations take place throughout the day including pottery, trapping, logging, spinning and weaving, and history talks. A pie eating contest takes place at 3 p.m. at the Blarney Ranch.
For the kids, craft time is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the community hall and a petting zoo runs from noon to 4 p.m. at the Trego Pub.
Music with Rob Quist rounds out the day at 6 p.m. at the Trego Pub.
The weekend wraps up Sunday with a fireman’s breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon at the community hall and raffle drawings.

Dog event Sept. 9
Montana K9 Safety is holding a Dog Days of Summer event on Sept. 9 focused on dog education and adoption.
The event is at Clark Nissan 2195 U.S. 93 S. in Kalispell from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event includes games and food trucks. In addition, educational opportunities include canine CPR practice and how to remove a dog from a trap.
A presenter’s circle will have learning opportunities throughout the day from 4-H, Montana Trappers Association in collaboration with Montana K9 Safety, Dog Tag Buddies, Flathead K9 Foundation, and Great Northern K9. Kiss a Golden Retriever to support Goldenstock Montana will take place and Scoop the Poop with Three Dog Ranch and more.

Golden retriever gathering in Whitefish Sept. 16
A gathering of golden retrievers and their owners, Goldenstock Montana, is Saturday, Sept. 16.
The fourth annual event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Haymoon Resort, 1845 Hodgson Road, Whitefish.
The day includes educational demonstrations and vendors.
Proceeds benefit Montana’s Precious Gold Golden Retriever Rescue of Montana, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of golden retrievers that have been abused, neglected and abandoned.
A free shuttle runs from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from the corner of U.S. 93 and Hodgson.

Modular Railroad Group meets Sept. 9
The Flathead HO Modular Railroad Group will have its regular operating session for trains at the Kalispell Center Mall on Saturday, Sept. 9.
Setup time is 11 a.m. Operating time starts at noon and continues until 3 p.m. The group operates HO gauge trains, running both DC and DCC operational systems. Persons who have locomotives and/or cars they wish to run on the layout are welcome to bring them.
