Concert in memory of longtime music teacher set for Sept. 10

The Kalispell Area Music Teachers Association will present a Concert in Memory of Janis Hoffman on Sunday, Sept. 10.

Janis Hoffman was a member of KAMTA for over 30 years and a piano teacher who passed away on Feb. 25, 2023. The concert will feature a former student of Janis and KAMTA teachers. Music will be performed by Claudius Cazan, Clementa Cazan-German, Maryruth Fallon, Gloria Johnson, Dan Kohnstamm, Carlene McCrea, Dr. Jordan Neiman, Alaura Olszewski, Suzanne Rohrbach and Diane Volkman.

The concert will be held at Bethel Baptist Church at 936 Fourth Ave. W. in Kalispell at 3 p.m. Free admission, donations are appreciated. Proceeds benefit the KAMTA Scholarship Fund.

Janis passed away at age 72 after a 16-month battle with ovarian cancer.

As well as teaching in her home studio, Jan also taught at Junior Music Academy for 11 years. She served as KAMTA secretary for over 20 years.
