A Football: Wildcats, Bulldogs fall

DILLON — Dillon quarterback Kee Christiansen ran for two touchdowns, the second one lifting the Beavers over Columbia Falls 22-19 in Western A football on Friday.

The defensive battle saw Dillon bend, then break against the passing of Columbia Falls quarterback Cody Schweikert: The senior, who also ran for two scores, was 24 of 29 passing for 287 yards. His 42-yard TD strike to Jace Hill had the Wildcats up 19-15 in the fourth quarter.

Dillon (2-0), which also scored on a fumble return and a field goal, was able to get back in front. Christiansen for 93 yards on 14 carries (and passed for 37 yards); the Beavers’ Kale Konen picked up 114 yards on 25 attempts.

Hill had eight catches for 122 yards for the Wildcats (2-1), and Mark Robison had five for 75. Reggie Sapa was the top ground-gainer with 49 yards on 10 carries.

CORVALLIS — Charlie Chavez’ first-quarter, 5-yard touchdown run was the difference in this defensive Western A battle.

The host Blue Devils came up with four interceptions and held the Whitefish Bulldogs to 23 rushing yards. Mason Kelch completed 15 of 35 passes for 72 yards, while Carson Gluck was 1-for-6 passing for 9 yards.

Corvallis did not pile up the yards, either: Just 135 total, 77 on the ground. Whitefish gained 114 yards.
