Bissen, Glacier girls third at Butte Invite

BUTTE — Glacier freshman Lauren Bissen ran to third place at the Butte Invitational on Friday, helping the Wolfpack girls to a third place finish as a team.

Bissen’s time was 19:09.20. Bissen’s teammates Anna Tretter and Bailey Gable finished 16th and 17th. Tretter clocked 20:31.50, a personal record.

The Flathead girls were second, behind a 6-7-9 finish from Josie Wilson (20:04.70), Mikenna Conan (20:13.30) and Lilli Rumsey Eash (20:13.50) and a 23-24 finish from Afton Wride and Lindy Porter, who both set personal records.

Flathead’s Robbie Nuila (16:27.80) finished 14th in the boys race, helping the Braves to seventh place; Kasen Kastner (17:10.20) was 29th.

For the Glacier boys, Owen Thiel (16:33.50) crossed the finish line in 15th place. Gabe Ackerly (17:16.60) placed 32nd. The Glacier boys team was eighth.

Great Falls’ Ryan Harrington ran 15:22.90 to win the boys race and Claire Rutherford of Gallatin clocked a season-high 18:42.50 to top the girls’ race.

Billings West boys won the team title with 57 points, with Great Falls in second at 68, and Helena High next with 91.

Winning the girls team title was Gallatin at 34 points, well ahead of second place Flathead’s 68, Glacier was next with 98 points.

Next up for Flathead and Glacier is the always competitive Mountain West Invite in Missoula on Saturday.
