Whitefish tops C-Falls 20-14 in OT
WHITEFISH — Carson Gulick’s third touchdown pass of the game, a 10-yarder to Mason Kelch in overtime, gave Whitefish a 20-14 win over Western A rival Columbia Falls Friday.
The annual “Cat-Dog” game went back and forth, with Columbia Falls’ Cody Schweikert running for one score and hitting Lane Hoerner for 25 yards and another score.
Offsetting that were Gulick’s touchdown passes to CJ Thew covering 25 and 67 yards — Thew’s only two catches of the game. The longer TD came midway through the fourth quarter.
Columbia Falls had the ball first in Montana overtime, but went nowhere and missed a field goal.
Kelch hauled in the game-winner on first down from the 10.
Gulick was 15 of 32 passing for 170 yards, and also ran 14 times for 62 yards to help the Bulldogs (1-3) pick up their first win. He also had an interception on defense.
Kelch, who has split time at QB with Gulick, had seven catches for 50 yards..
Schweikert (2-2) was 19 of 28 passing for 167 yards for the Wildcats (2-2). Horfner had six catches for 63 yards and Jace Hill had five for 50.
