Prep Football: Whitefish upends Bigfork; Eureka wins big

BIGFORK — Carson Gulick threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, leading Whitefish over Bigfork 20-16 in a Western A football game.

Gulick was 16 of 31 passing for 180 yards, with one interception. His 18-yard scoring pass to Dane Hunt put the Bulldogs (2-4 overall, 2-3 in the Western A) ahead 20-14 midway through the fourth quarter.

Whitefish made goal-line stands in the second quarter and again late in the game, when the Vikings didn’t score on four tries from inside the 5.

The Bulldogs took over inside their 1-yard line with under two minutes left, and gave up a safety, but the ensuing free kick resulted in a fumble that Whitefish recovered.

Tristan Herd completed 8 of 16 passes for 217 yards for Bigfork (3-3, 3-3). He was intercepted once. Sam Plummer ran for both of the Vikings touchdowns, and Bigfork outgained Whitefish 355-290.

Eureka 40, Thompson Falls 0

EUREKA — AJ Truman fired three touchdown passes to Tristan Butts and another to Josh Lambertsen, leading the unbeaten Eureka Lions over Thompson Falls in Western B action.

Butts’ touchdowns covered 29, 45 and 23 yards. Truman also ran for a TD.

The Lions (6-0 overall, 2-0 in the Western B) also got a scoring run from Caden Pecora, set up by Rogan Lytle’s interception and return to the Bluehawks’ 4-yard line. Thompson Falls fell to 2-4, 1-1 in league.

STEVENSVILLE — Uriah Ulutoa ran for 132 yards and three touchdowns, and Polson cruised to the Western A road win.

Holden Emerson threw for 153 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown to Tommy Sherry for the Pirates (3-3); Emerson completed 9 of 19 passes.

Lucian Sayer added two field goals for the Pirates, who had 342 yards of offense. Gunnar Larson ran for a TD for the Yellowjackets (1-5).
